GifSplitter can split gif animation to image file(s) list. Then, you can select any frames of the gif animation, and modify them as you like.

Also, GifSplitter will create a .mifl file which can be used in Magic ASCII Studio (http://www.xoyosoft.com/mas). So, with the help of GifSplitter you can make ASCII Art Animation directly from gif animation file in Magic ASCII Studio now.

Would be nice to have a choice of output format, but apart from that can't fault it.

Gif Splitter 1.0 is an overall very handy software for performing such a simple task. Why bother with shareware programs and tacky trial versions, when you have this for free?

I have already used it extensively. Though not for ultra important purposes, I have enjoyed using it. Im a regular forum member, and I have used the program to split up a GIF animated avatar, so that I could draw a black border around each frame. I then re-animated it with another software (which is unrelated to Gif Splitter, but happens to be free aswell).

Gif Splitter is easy, clear and doesn't seem to contain any bugs or errors.

Highly recommended for people who cannot afford expensive software.
